"In January 2005, the Fredericksburg Industrial Development Authority pursued an official name change to become the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority. With this official name change, a new direction began for the Economic Development Authority. The Board of Directors authorized a committee called JumpStart! Fredericksburg 2010 to lead a professional design and implementation process to: identify development opportunities/needs, render development examples for each City commercial area with recognized needs, provide market analysis to demonstrate individual project viability, foster strong public support, and improve quality of life amenities and enhance economic development opportunities."
