Dear Friends,
The Fredericksburg Arts Commission is presenting Via Colori Fredericksburg on the weekend of Sep 24-26, 2010. This first-time ever festival will focus on street painting along Sophia Street and Riverfront Park with over 100 artists in the greatest act of spontaneous creativity ever to occur in Virginia! We’re planning for two stages, a children’s area and multiple opportunities to both watch and participate in this celebration of art.
Imagine a bright, fresh Saturday morning when a couple hundred artists come simply to create for a good cause. A hush falls over the morning as they each kneel on the pavement. They sketch their outlines and ready their colors as entertainment begins to echo through the festival. The act of creation has begun.
Via Colori Fredericksburg will provide the equipment and the location, the public will attend to watch and marvel at the diversity of art in front of them and we’ll all laugh and enjoy a beautiful weekend in celebration of the incredible talent of our region.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are looking for four specific groups of volunteers to make this program a huge success:
1. Artists – fine artists, families, beginners and anyone willing to give it a try are invited to join us by signing up to paint 4x4, 6x6 or 10x10 squares.
2. Sponsors – businesses are asked to sponsor the squares at the $100, $250 and $500 levels in exchange for unbelievable exposure with signage and Free Lance-Star mentions. Those wishing for maximum exposure should contact us for higher level of sponsorships available.
3. Performers – we want to celebrate the regions experts and lesser known performers as well with half hour and one hour slots on two stages and multiple opportunities for roaming entertainers.
4. Volunteers – two hour positions are available in a variety of options ranging from staffing our information booth to assisting with security overnight to hands-on experience being a stage hand.
